As part of the expansion of the Age-Friendly NYC initiative, the New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM) has created a special survey to help identify new ways to help make all five of our boroughs more age-friendly places. In addition to asking questions about the availability of certain services in our communities, the survey also inquires about the challenges that older New Yorkers are continuing to experience in their daily lives. To help ensure a diverse cross-section of responses, the New York City Council and NYAM are distributing the following survey.
The survey is available here in English, Spanish, Chinese, and Russian. All responses will be kept anonymous and confidential. There is no deadline. MDC has paper copies of the survey. Please contact our office at 718-376-0999 to obtain a copy.
Since its establishment in 2007 by the Mayor’s Office, the New York City Council, and the New York Academy of Medicine, the Age-Friendly NYC initiative has been instrumental in making New York City a model for other cities looking to make their communities better places for seniors. It’s an innovative approach that works from the ground up, bringing together seniors, policy makers and local business leaders to help craft policies tailored to meet the unique needs of older adults in their communities.
