501(See)(Streets) Founder and Executive Director Noah Sheroff

The Neighborhood Preservation Coalition of of New York State has invited MDC Executive Director Linda Goodman to speak at its annual conference. This year’s conference, themed ‘”Crossroads: Re-Envisioning the Future,” will be held Oct. 8-9 in Albany, NY. The conference is held in cooperation with New York State Homes and Community Renewal, and will examine best practices in the field of neighborhood revitalization and community development at the local and state levels.

Linda will participate as a speaker for the workshop Community-Driven Art for Community-Driven Revitalization,  discussing the role that art plays in community revitalization and economic development. Linda will present with Noah Sheroff, founder and executive director of 501(See) (Streets). MDC has partnered with 501(See)(Streets) in a neighborhood beautification project, bringing murals to Midwood at Murrow High School and on Avenue J.

The Neighborhood Preservation Coalition of New York State is a statewide membership organization of community-based, not-for-profit housing companies and other interested parties committed to revitalizing New York State’s urban and suburban areas. The Coalition provides information on state and federal housing policies, networking opportunities, advocacy services and technical assistance to its members.

Linda joined MDC in 1993. She has a Masters in Urban Planning from Hunter College and a Masters in Special Education from Yeshiva University. In addition to being MDC’s chief administrative officer, Linda provides one-on-one counseling to first-time homebuyers and to homeowners facing foreclosure.  She is a Board member of the Neighborhood Preservation Coalition of New York State.

501(See)(Streets) is a nonprofit organization that works with community groups to assist in the revitalization and beautification of neighborhoods through the use of art. Noah is a graduate of St. John’s University and NYU’s Robert F Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. He is a street art aficionado who has traveled across the East Coast photographing and documenting pieces. The organization has worked with groups to complete projects within the NYC boroughs of Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx.

MDC recently partnered with 501(See)(Streets) in bringing this beautiful mural to Edward R. Murrow High School.
