Mayor Bill de Blasio has made a commitment to confront the epidemic of traffic injuries and fatalities on our streets. His Vision Zero plan seeks to dramatically reduce these accidents. Drivers and cyclists are at risk, but overwhelmingly, the deadly toll is highest for pedestrians — especially children and seniors. For a safer New York City, the speed limit is changing to 25 MPH on November 7, 2014.

  • Drivers who drive 25 MPH or slower are better able to avoid crashes.
  • Pedestrians who are struck by vehicles traveling at 25 MPH are half as likely to die as pedestrians who are struck by vehicles at 30 MPH.

The 70th Precinct reminds you: Crashes are preventable. Together we can save lives.
